What are Output devices ? About Monitor, Printer, Speaker, Projecter

OUTPUT DEVICES

Output devices produce the output in a form which is readable for the user.

Computer


Examples: - Monitor (or VDU - video Display Unit), printer, plotter, speakers e.t.c.

In this post we know about these output devices.

Monitor 

It displays information in a similar way like on a television screen.

The monitor display is made of thousands of tiny colour dots called as Pixels.

Pixel : -

 It is the smallest element of display on a computer screen.


Resolution :- 

Resolution of a display is specified in number of pixels displayed on the screen. A typical resolution as can be specified as 1920 X 1080. It indicates 1920 horizontal dots & 1080 vertical dots.


Types of Monitor : 

a) CRT monitor - Cathod Ray Tube type

b) LCD moniter -  Liquid crystal display type 

C) LED monitor - Light emitting diode type


Sizes of monitor : 

 Size of computer screen is specified in its diagonal size. The CRT monitors are almost squire shaped but LCD and LED monitors are  wide screen monitors having more width than height. Some typical monitor sizes are 17", 19"  and 22".


 Aspect Ratio:

It is the ratio of width to hight. CRT screen have aspect ratio of 4:3 and LCD and LED Screens are mostly 16:9. 

Printers - 

Printers are used to print or produce hardcopy of electronic documents or pictures on paper.


Types of Printer:

1.) Dot matris printer : It is used mainly for bill printing, ticket printing , report printing in large amount. It is cheaper but has foor resolution.

2) Inkjet printer :

It is specially used for colour printing of text or photo due to low cost  page. It is costlier than dot printer but better resolution . It is slower than laser printer. 

3 ) laser printer

It is preferred for black and white printing because colour printing is very costly.

It has high resolution . it is costly than inkjet printer but it is very fast.


Speaker

Speaker convert electrical signal into sound.

Projector

Projector is used to display the computer screen by projecting its zoomed view on a flat surface.

It is used in meetings and presentations so that everyone in the room or hall is able to see the display of computer screen.
